Local church leaders know we are all in the midst of transformations profoundly affecting the nature of church life and its leadership. They need two things:
- New skills and competencies to lead their people in the midst of these changes,
- To know how and where to start.
This 360 provides the pastor/leader with a process identifying those capacities and the right places to start in their church.
What is the the Pastor/Leader 360?

- A tool, not a program, that gets a leader started in discovering the skills and capacities required for leading in transformation.
- Based on the RMN Missional Change Model (see Roxburgh & Romanuk, The Missional Leader)
- Designed to initiate listening conversations about your skills, capacities and pass-on-able habits around missional innovation as a leader.
- Not a standard survey or evaluation tool based in best practices but an introduction to doing adaptive change.
- A ‘photograph’ of you as a leader at one moment in time based on the composite input of 15 -25 people of your selection.
- Personal and confidential assessment of the areas where you will need to develop skills and capacities at this point in time.
- The 360 invites a series of people you will identify (for example: Staff, Board, Members of X years, Non-Members, Peers etc) to respond to a series of questions around a set of skills and capacities in adaptive leadership. These multiple responses are collated into a comprehensive Report personally designed for you.
Who does the 360?
Because this is a 360 instrument we want a significant number of people (15 -25) to take it on you. Here is a list of the category groups we encourage you to identify:
- Board of congregation (as many as possible)
- Staff of congregation
- Members of congregation
- A superior where applicable (This may be a district superintendent or area minister or other designated denominational leadership. You may not have any such person, if so, that is fine.
- Peers – other pastors who have some knowledge of you as a leader.
- Other – any others you want to include in the 360.
